mdpeek starts with a welcome screen (your recent items). Click the "Open" button in the toolbar or press ⌘O to choose a .md file or a folder to get started.
Press ⌘O and select a folder. The sidebar file tree lists all Markdown files inside; use the ⚙ settings to toggle "Markdown only / all files".
Due to macOS security (App Sandbox), the app can only access files you grant via the open dialog, Finder "Open With", or drag & drop. This is system behavior that keeps your documents protected. Grant access once per file/folder; "Recents" restores them normally afterwards.
Another app (e.g. VS Code) modified the file while you were editing. mdpeek never overwrites silently — choose to reload the disk version, or force-overwrite with your current edits.
